Straight from the horse’s mouth

Sound and Sculpture Installation

Commissioned by UK New Artists as part of the New Artist Collective Programme 2022-23

Architecture Residency (Archives of Lincolnshire and Lincoln Museum)

St Mary Le Wigford, Lincoln - 21st Oct 2023

Straight from the Horse’s Mouth is a sound and sculpture installation that explores the popular fact that horses can hear up to 4km away. The work investigates the inevitable bond that the people and the city of Lincoln have with the horses living on the South and West Commons. This site specific sound installation documents a walk performed and recorded by the artist on Friday 8th September 2023. Through the act of listening to the horse’s perspective, the work asks us to experience Lincoln and consider its inhabitants differently.

Created by SLQS, sound mastering by Johan Beavis Berry.
